Hello! I have been in the childcare industry over ten years. I have currently been a Nanny/ Family Assistant for two years, I have my Liberal Arts degree from Sonoma State University and I taught preschool for a total of nine years. I have 15 ECE units/child development seminar credits as well. I am CPR and First Aid certified and I have LiveScan clearance. I am also the proud mother of two boys ages 9 & 13. I truly enjoy my job and that is why I have remained in this industry for so many years. No matter if one is teaching in a classroom or in the privacy of one's home, I believe a safe, healthy and happy environment should be of the utmost importance. Selfishly, I have also found it very rewarding to know I have made a difference in a child's life and the teaching, love and Read more guidance I have offered have fostered their growth and self- esteem. I have experience in a variety of different age groups. The infants I have cared for are adorable. A simple smile or coo would make my day. However, their demands differ a bit from the older kids. My main focus with them is to ensure their safety and well being. Diapering, feeding, meeting their basic needs and fostering their development through music and play is an important part of our routine. Toddlers that I care for are a lot of fun too. We enjoy music, dancing, library time, The Discovery Museum, and visits to the park. I usually introduce basic color, letter recognition as well as basic drawing and coloring( ie: scribbling) at this age. As the children grow into Early Childhood and even Middle Childhood we do a lot of the same just on a bigger scale. Arts, crafts and music are very popular at this age and I greatly encourage it. It is amazing to see all the the creativity that can come from such little people. The older kids often need assistance with their homework or need to be driven to activities and I do that as well. Sometimes we play board games or cards or just talk about the day, friends, etc.... No matter what age group I am working with I find something new and exciting in both of our worlds everyday. I know many people say this can be a challenging profession and I agree, but the advantages outweigh the challenges by far.
