I am a grandmother of two. I love children, animals and elders and I am very experienced in life to be a sitter now at the young age of only 61. Please consider me to be the person who fully understands the world of working parent(s)! Having been one since 1978! I'm ready to be a stay at home mom if you're ready to let this part of my life help you with this part of your life? I can cook and help with homework too! I am a former nurse administrator and I have a business degree. My son went to heaven in 2010 and I became the primary caregiver to a multitude of loved ones and friends for the past 6 years. I am one year away from retirement and find it very difficult to get back into the workforce so I'm hoping this site will provide me Read more with "career" I chose at this point in my life. Email me at Barbsolves@me.com if you hope to bring me in to fill your sittin needs. Thank you

After meeting and having a pleasant interaction, we decided to move forward to work with each other. I even allowed her to bring her foster dog into our home after she repeatedly mentioned that she never had left it alone. We are very pet friendly but do have our own dogs, so this added another element to our arrangement. After asking for her full name and home address, it took nearly a week to get a response from her, although we had agreed to a start date at this point. On the day she was to begin, I had a cancellation and would not be needing her help. I called to ask if we could start on the next scheduled day (2 days later) and she agreed. I then got a text message from her voiding our arrangement completely. I would have considered paying her for the day as it was late notice, but that was not discussed. I asked if we could push back our start date as it was the very first scheduled day. Also, cancellations in my schedule happen maybe 3x a year. This was not discussed either. I felt this person to be pleasant in person, but inflexible and uncommunicative otherwise. I think things worked out for our best interest and that we dodged a bullet. Jennifer

I had met with Barb, had a friendly interaction, and decided to move forward working together. I had even allowed her to bring her foster dog into our home as she repeatedly mentioned that she never left it alone. We are a pet friendly home, but this did create a new layer to our relationship as we have two dogs at home. She took her time in responding to my request for full personal info before beginning work in our home, I had asked for her full name an address. On the morning she was to begin, I had a cancellation and wasn't going to need her to come over. When I called to tell her this and asked if we could start on our scheduled Thursday, she said that would be fine. I then received a text message cancelling our commitment and that she no longer wished to work for us. No discussion. Had it been requested, I would have gladly paid her for the day since it was rather short notice. But as we had yet to begin our work, I asked if we could delay start date by two days. Had she asked if cancellations were a regular occurrence, I would have told her no. They are a rare exception. Regardless, I found her to be very uncooperative and inflexible. I was also left in a lurch for the remainder of the week. I would be very hesitant to hire or recommend this person. She was very pleasant in person, but completely inflexible or communicative after initial contact. I feel like we dodged a bullet.

Barb came through for me in a pinch on extremely short notice and handled all 3 of my under-5s while they were sick with ease. The kids absolutely loved her. She's coming back again tomorrow so dad can take a break! Highly recommended!
