Hi! I am a wife of almost 34 years, a mom of 3 adult children ages 31, 28 and 23 and a former OB/GYN nurse. I have always had a heart for children and always thought I’d be a preschool teacher before I decided on nursing instead. My brother was born when I was 12 and my experience with newborns began then. My mom was a single mom so I took on a lot of the responsibilities and loved it! I baby sat through high school and while completing my LVN nursing program. Once I had my first daughter I became a stay at home mom. Eventually I did infant/toddler child care in my home for one family at a time while my kids were in school. I loved them like my own, never considered it a job and that was the reason for my one family at a time Read more rule. I didn’t want to run a daycare. I just wanted welcome children into my home as part of my family. I later became a Mentor Mom for MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) at my church. I did this for several years, enjoying newborn babies at my table every year and mentoring new mommas. I am called the baby whisperer because I have the touch of calming fussing infants when others can’t. I absolutely loved it but eventually had to let that go to care for my mother in law who was diagnosed with cancer. Once she recovered I started a part time job. I worked at a hospital but missed the babies so I trained to become a volunteer NICU “Cuddler”, holding and loving on infants when parents couldn’t be there. Unfortunately that program ended with Covid and so did my part time job. I got back involved with MOPS but this time I work with infants instead of mommas on Tuesday mornings. I also serve in infants on Sunday mornings and again on Wednesday evenings. I currently provide occasional volunteer child care for a few military families who need date nights, maybe some child free errands run or just an extra set of hands at home while they get their stuff done and I play with their toddlers. I’m currently looking for a family who needs part time help and is able to be flexible with hours. I’d prefer weekday hours a few days a week but I can also be flexible if/when the need arises.
