I began my official child care career, in college, working at a Before and After care center housed in an elementary school.  I worked at the Before and After care center for close to 3 years.  I then began my career as a part time nanny, while continuing towards my degree, for a family with two children ages 6 and 7.  My duties included taking to and from school as well as any extra activities.  I also helped with homework and various housekeeping tasks.  I was their part time nanny for 2 years. I then began nannying for them full time, once I had graduated college with my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and they were welcoming triplets. I would nanny Mon-Fri and occasional overnights.  Daily tasks then were more focused on the newborns, but I also continued care for the older siblings when they were home from school as Read more well. Some of the tasks for the triplets were feeding, changing, bathing, accompanying doctor visits, etc.  I have continued to nanny all 5 children full time, year round.  I try to have fun and educational activities planned for each week.  I work closely with the parents on weekly planning as well as behavior management strategies so the children have consistency.  My college education, degree, and personal experience allow me to understand more about child development, both physical and cognitive, which I then incorporate with my position as a nanny. I love teaching and learning new things with all ages of children. I also love receiving input from the children and parents on what they'd like to learn or see their children learn or work on from playtime to school time.
