Meet Janine

  • Comfortable with pets

Hello, my name is Janine Hayes and I'm a mother of four grown children and a lifelong nanny. I started babysitting at the age of 9 (things were different back then!), became a mother out of college and as my children got older realized my next career step was to professionally continue doing what I'd always loved. Childcare has always been my greatest passion and I was very fortunate to find it so young. Over the years I've worked for families as both live in and live out, have stayed in touch with almost all of the kids and am often rehired as they get older. I've traveled for months at a time and been lucky enough to see the world holding hands with toddlers, (the best way IMHO!). My 'style' of childcare is child lead. I like to create a supportive and playful environment while also having a fun Read more and education schedule for preschoolers that includes a healthy dose of art and laughter. I'm praised for how patient I am. Kindness, warmth, positive reinforcement, embracing and learning from mistakes, open communication and lots and lots of playfulness and laughter are my guidelines when I help a family care for their children. I believe there is a time for firm boundaries when safety is an issue but can always be set with love. IMHO when time constraints limit a child's natural compass I believe the best way to deal with it is with the utmost respect in the moment, (i.e., we still have to leave the park at that time but how I talk to the child about their feelings, even a tantrum, will be respectful and supportive) and making an effort to prevent future breakdowns by creating a daily schedule that meets not only the needs of the child but also allows them to pursue their dreams, no matter how old they are. I believe everyday brings countless opportunities to practice and model living with self love and respect which is the best way to teach a child to live that way. And if we can play and laugh as often as possible then we're really hitting the mark! While I could go on and on about how I take care of children I'll just add that I am also infant and toddler CPR certified and have in fact saved a toddler from choking! The training does work! Take the classes! I invite you to reach out if you'd like to talk more or have any questions and thank you so much for your time. I look forward to meeting you! Sincerely, Janine Hayes 310-993-0108
