After graduating college with a degree in communications, I began a musical theater career. In between shows, I held childcare/teaching positions for over 10 years with children of all ages and fell in love with all things related to encouraging kids! For the past two years, I've been a nanny/tutor/family assistant for a family with two school aged children, including a child with ADHD. In addition to assisting the children with homework and keeping them on task, I created schedules, kept in contact with teachers regarding studies, created fun educational games, including improvisational acting for the children and their friends, was responsible for transportation of children to and from school and activities, helped with morning routines, tutored/choreographed performances for school productions, attended all school events, assisted with errands, scheduling, meal preparation and finally, served as a family confidant. Prior to this position, I served as a nanny to two adorable Read more toddlers. While with this family, I also worked at a wonderful organization in North Hollywood for underprivileged kids called, "Hands for Hope" as a drama/vocal teacher where I directed a production of "The Wizard of Oz!" (Most kids performed for the first time in their lives!) Prior to moving to California, I was fortunate to work for a fantastic family in Neshanic Station NJ, taking the kids to activities, assisting with homework, (helping to raise the 15 year old's gpa 2 pts.!) playing with the kids and helping keep the house organized. I became a friend/mentor to all 3 kids and I still miss them! I have also been a volunteer child mentor, supporting parents in their child care philosophies and helping support children in their development. In addition, I've taught kids of all ages in all subjects, including performing arts, and have directed full scale school productions. I studied and performed improvisation at "Second City" and "The Groundlings" and therefore favorite activities of mine include encouraging kids in their own gifts and talents, acting out stories and improvisational comedy games. I am a natural encourager, and love to bring smiles to kid's faces through laughter, and the building of their self esteems! I am also not adverse to a fun outdoor game and have enjoyed my share of a good round of nerf football and basketball with my 9 year old buddy Nick from the same NJ family! I look forward to meeting and working with a new family!
