Hello, My name is Susan Hilbert, I had been a stay at home mom for 20 years. My husband and I have two children ages 20 and 17. We both grew up in the North Torrance area and have been raising our children here too. We feel fortunate to live in Torrance and be a part of a strong community. When our children started school I began volunteering in their school, PTA and in their classrooms assisting their teachers. I have been volunteering in their schools for over 14 years and have greatly enjoyed it. Our oldest is in College and our youngest is in High School. Now that our son is older he prefers not having mom on campus as much. I still volunteer but it’s mostly with PTA. We have an eight year old niece I had been watching about once a week since she was a newborn. Read more Since she started school I only watch her 1-2 times a month. My sister is a Registered Nurse at Little Company Hospital and my brother in law is a Firefighter. They try to work their schedule so they don’t overlap but about once or twice a month I do get the pleasure of watching her. On those days we go to the park, beach, walks or just stay home and do arts and crafts, read, bake, work on puzzles, play house and have tea parties. Most recently I had been caring for three children. I started watching them when they were 18 months, 3, and 5 years old as their mom recovered from surgery. Mom recovered and my time with this wonderful family continued for a few years but on an occasional as needed basis until covid-19 hit and for safety precautions we all quarantined. I have an AA in Liberal Arts from Mount St. Mary’s College and 21 Childhood Development Units from Harbor College. I am also CPR and First Aid Certified.
