I have been working with children for over 12 years. For the past 6 years I have worked at a small, progressive childcare center called The Orchard School in Alstead, NH. I have experience in all their programs: pre-school and Kindergarten up to age 6 (including as an Assistant Kindergarten teacher for 2 years), after-school program for elementary children, and the summer camp for children up to 15 years old. Throughout my time there I planned curriculum, taught First Aid, designed materials, spent a lot of time trekking in the woods, and taught gardening and cooking. In college I studied Environmental Science and it's important to me to bring nature and health into the lives of children. Through my professional work at The Orchard School (TOS) I also took lots of workshops and studied child development, teaching methods, working with atypical need children, multi-cultural education, and more. Beyond place and Read more nature based education, The Orchard School has a focus on emotional/ social development and working there for so long I gained lots of skills from the highly qualified and experienced educators who were my coworkers. Recently I have also enjoyed working in food service and food production. Nutritious and local foods are an important part of my mission in life and I would love to find a position that also involves preparing a meal or meals for your family, perhaps with the help of your children. Food shopping and other household chores could also be included in the position.
