Martha is just the perfect babysitter for our 4 1/2 year old son. She is very reliable, always on time and we could always ask her to sit for our son at short notice. She has great spirit and passion for children! She was very interactive with our son right from the first meeting. She also impressed us with questions she had ready to ask. As a person she is the perfect combination of humor and consistency. She not only sits for our son - she always tries to teach him 'something' (he can already write his name and count till 30 ) and last but not least - and she really cooks very good :).

I hired Martha as an on-call babysitter for when I had call at work. At first she seemed OK. I had to remind/ ask her to do a few things differently or to my taste but that is just what is expected with new baby sitters. However, over the course of a couple months it seemed like I had to talk to her about something every time she babysat for me. My daughter is 5 and not difficult to watch so it often surprised me when, for example, I would ask her to have her in bed no later than 8 pm because it was a school night and I would get home at 8:30 only to find her not even bathed yet! Then there was the issue of her scheduling other stuff while she was supposed to be watching my child. She even asked me once if it would be ok if her boyfriend (very nice guy but not my sitter) watched my daughter so she could take care of some personal business! The straw that broke the camel's back for me was this last weekend when I was on call and I came home from my first call in and as soon as she left my 5 year old daughter told me "Mommy, Ms. Martha made me watch the Walking Dead." Yes, that is not a typo... she actually had the nerve to tell my 5 year old to "Just watch it for a little bit and if you don't like it we will turn it off." I was beyond mad and when I asked her about it she seemed like it was no big deal and proceeded to ask me "Do you only let her watch Nick Jr?" and then told me it "was only on for a few minutes" as if that makes it OK. If you want a sitter that you have to remind of common sense things then maybe she is for you. I have used sittercity quite a bit in the past and found some really awesome sitters in other cities but this is the first time I truly felt like I needed to write a review. I guess I should clarify... a bad review but well deserved.

Is an excellent Sitter! Available for my 3 year old anytime and at times has taken my 11 year old also. Teaches my son many things and is not a person who puts the children in front of the television for hours. My baby has learned numbers, colors and the alphabet and is very happy to be there when he is not at home. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

She has watched and cared for my daughter numerous times, and is one of the very few people that I trust with my daughter. Martha is very simple and kids seem to naturally see her as a motherly figure. I definitely recommend her.

Very blessed to have found her. Handles my twin two year olds easily. Teaches them colors, days of the week, counting and of course the alphabet. It's like having preschool at home. Also takes them to the park several times a week and keeps them entertained. Great cook as well. When I get home from work I don't worry about the house being a disaster area either. She cleans up after them. I highly recommend her!
