I began babysitting around the age of 12 (2002) and would watch two or three children in their home for a few hours. It didn't take long before I was spending the night to watch children for whole weekends or watching 5 or more at a time. Every summer, I volunteered in a Vacation Bible School classroom. In 2008, I was able to work closely with children during clinicals for an Allied Health class in high school. At the beginning of 2011, I began working in a child care facility and completely fell in love; I even changed my major in college to Child Development. I stayed with that particular preschool until summer 2013 when I chose to leave to accept a nanny position. During my tenure at my first facility, I was a nanny to two girls, ages 3 and 7, and was with them for two years. My Read more second nanny position was with a boy, age 3, and a girl, age 6 months. I stayed with them for around 6 months while they were in the area visiting and then again for just a few months the next year. I moved to the Mississippi gulf coast at the beginning of 2014 and began teaching at a preschool. Soon I became Assistant Director as well. I was employed there for around a year until I began bartending in order to save to move to Denver. I was very close to graduating college, only lacking a student teaching semester. I have taught at a childcare facility for almost 5 years and have been babysitting/nanny-ing for 18 years. I am certified in CPR and First Aid. I've been trained in SIDS prevention and Safe Sleep Practices, Prevention of Shaken Baby Syndrome and Abusive Head Trauma, Standard Precautions including Infectious Diseases and Immunizations, Recognize, Respond, Report: Mandatory Reporters of Child Abuse and Neglect.
