I am a positive, encouraging person who loves hiking, reading, singing, art, writing, cross-stitching, playing guitar, and yoga. I am queer (pronouns: they/them) and am looking to work with a family that not only understands this but embraces it and proactively practices gender-expansive framework. My approach is one of curiosity and excitement as I learn about each child's world, meet them where they are at, and be present with them. I use frameworks of consent, body autonomy, nonviolent communication, and gentle-parenting in my interactions with children. I am thoughtful and empathetic while also being grounded and practical. I support creativity, honesty, and emotional intelligence as well as natural consequences and boundaries for safe play. I have exposure to Montessori and Waldorf pedagogy and include some of their respective core values to my own. I am patient, flexible, understanding, gentle, observant, great at problem-solving, and a wonderful communicator. I bring music and art to my interactions with children, as I find it leads to receptivity- a grounded, mindful presence and connection. I previously work for a children’s dance and theater studio as well as after school program at the same location. I have also worked at a speech-language pathologists office, allowing me to gain exposure and have conversations around developmental markers, how to support child communication, etc. I also have direct experience working with differently abled kids and those that are neurodivergent. I am a deep listener with children; I work intentionally to support self and co-regulation so that transitions, tasks, and everyday interactions are as calm and child-growth supportive as possible. I encourage an appreciation for the outdoors. I also have experience working with a baby, starting at 2 months until their current age of 22 months. I have supported their older sibling through their toddler developmental stage of 2 to 4 years old. I work well both independently and collaboratively.
