Friends have called me a "kid magnet," and it's true that I adore children and that they seem to like me, too. My most recent nanny position ended amicably in December after a little over a year with the family. One parent decided to quit working and take on full-time childcare and household management, so they no longer needed a nanny. I am looking for a full-time, long-term nanny/nanny manager position with a family that will value me like a member of their extended family. Until I find the right match, however, I am open to temporary positions and babysitting opportunities. Aside from generally being great with children, the standout information about me is that I have five years of experience caring for children with special needs, including gastrostomy tube, hearing loss, and physical, occupational, speech, feeding and sensory processing therapy. One year of this experience includes participating in early Read more learning classes at Rocky Mountain Deaf School twice a week and a Children's Hospital of Colorado total communication therapy group for toddlers with hearing loss. I am proficient in American Sign Language for babies and toddlers and can communicate with adults at a basic level. Working directly with a variety of therapists consistently over five years has given me an informal, on-the-job education in child development, positioning me to be able assist with speech and language development, fine and gross motor skills, and essential milestones. I am loving, patient, playful and kind, and I strive to interact with children in ways that are affirming and accepting and to recognize and be mindful of each child's individual personality and needs. I value routines, and I am happy to follow the family's established routines or assist in creating them. I like to stay busy, so a family who needs their nanny to perform light housekeeping, organizational projects, meal prep, pet care and other tasks is ideal.
