I am a retired speech-language pathologist. I was self employed full time in the field for 39 years. I understand speech, language and other developmental milestones as I have been trained in this area and wanted to do this kind of work since I was a child. Parents who have used my services as a nanny have all appreciated how I naturally stimulate language and social development as it is so much a part of how I have worked throughout my career. Once retired in 2018, I began doing child care as a means of supplementing my social security income. I only serve one family (1-2 babies/child(ren) at a time). I have taken care of children from 8 separate families over the past few years. Each of them have indicated they would be delighted to attest to my competence and capabilities. My husband and I raised our twins who are now 35 years of age and there is nothing like on the job training in terms of the raising of twin children. It has been the joy of my life! Both of my children have earned their Master’s Degrees. Our daughter is the Associate Director of Student Engagement at a major University, and our son is a commercial airline pilot. My most recent nanny position was for a set of twin girls who I cared for from the time they were 5 months old until their first birthday when they moved to PA. These little girls and their parents and I fell in love at first sight and it was a tearful goodbye when they moved just a few months ago. We keep in touch but I miss them deeply.
