I am a caring and hard-working individual with experience in education, social work and nannying. I am a Purdue University graduate, and I began my career in education working with children in an underserved community. Through this experience, I began to see the significant impact of a child’s home life on their ability to learn and achieve in an academic setting. This led me to pursue a career in social work. For three years, I worked as a parenting coach for families involved with child protective services. This experience fostered a passion for ensuring the safety and proper development of all children. I am very knowledgeable in child development, age-appropriate expectations and trauma-informed care. In addition, I also have experience planning age appropriate activities, redirecting inappropriate or unsafe behavior in a positive, nurturing manner and instilling healthy coping mechanisms and problem solving techniques to promote healthy development and reduce conflict Read more in the home. During the pandemic, I shifted from social work to nannying to reduce my risk of exposure to COVID-19. I was fortunate to work full time for a wonderful family with two children ages 5 and 8. I remained with this family from July 2020 to August 2021, when the children were able to safely return to in-person schooling. I had an excellent experience, and I am happy to provide this family as a reference. Both children attended school online for the entire 2020-2021 school year and were enrolled in kindergarten and third grade. During that time, I supported their learning during class time, established routine and structure surrounding homework time, assisted with school projects and communicated with school staff and the children’s parents to manage any schedule changes that occurred. I also planned regular arts and crafts activities, took the children on daily trips to the park, prepared all snacks and lunches and assisted with light household tasks, such as laundry and dishes. In my personal life, I consider myself to be a very down to earth person, and I am a very open and honest communicator. With six pets of my own, I love animals and have no issue working with pets in the home. My wife has a compromised immune system, so we are continuing to follow guidance from the CDC in regards to COVID-19 safety. We are both fully vaccinated and can provide proof of vaccination.
