Ashley S.

I recently hired and then fired Ashley is less than one week of working for us. We had to let her go bc she did not show up to work. She did communicate or call me to let me know she was not coming into work. In fact, I had to call her 5 minutes prior to when she was supposed to be at my house and she informed me she would not be coming in. The reason she gave was bc my daughter was sick with a temp of 101 (my partner was working from home given my daughter being sick and it was a UTI - not contagious). Later that day when I called to tell Ashley we no longer want to employ her, she was surprised! Ashley held NO accountability for her lack of professionalism and lack of regard for my family. Ashley also engaged in mom shaming. She tried to tell me what I should do with my child and that I should go back to the pediatrician (it was a UTI, she was on medicine and we were monitoring her fever), which is prosperous. I am a psychologist with a focus on child development and worked for several years as a nanny while obtaining my degrees, while she had no formal education of childcare. She believes that having a child gave her authority on raising children. To top it all off, Ashley kept the money that I gave her in good faith towards her paycheck. When I tried to appeal to her reason to return the money as she essentially fired herself for not showing up, Ashley kept the money, stating that she earned it. She did not spend not even one hour alone with my child. I found Ashley to be immature, unresponsible, and rude. As a parent who needs childcare, I needed someone dependable, reliable, communicative, and honest. Ashley did not fit our needs.
