I have been working with students that have a wide range of abilities for many years, dating back to high school. I began my work with children with Special Needs when I began teaching students how to swim in high school. I continued working with kids through out college. During my summer breaks I worked at a camp, working with children with Special Needs. During the school year I worked at an after school program. Both positions had me supporting the children's educational needs but also developing their social abilities. I ventured into another profession before coming back to education. I have been working at Boulder High School as a Para Professional in the ILC and ICAN classrooms for the past two school years. Much like my past experiences, at BHS we strive to support and give our students every opportunity that is available to them. Also, providing a positive Read more educational and emotional environment for students with a wide range of needs. It has been a pleasure to work in these two programs, the students have given me an immense amount of joy as I have watched them develop as students and young adults. I also coach Middle School Basketball at Shining Mountain Waldorf school in Boulder, helping the girls to grow on the court and to increase their confidence off the court. Beyond my qualifications as an educator I am CPR/First Aid and CPI trained.
