I am currently an occupational therapy graduate student, going through my first year. During my undergraduate years, I volunteered in Special Olympics and Best Buddies. I have been a personal care assistant in the past for a male with Cerebral Palsy and I would help him with most ADL/IADL activities, meal prep, transportation, transfers, and would work on stretches with him once a week. I have provided before school and after school care for two males on the Autism spectrum for approximately two years. I have also worked at an overnight summer camp for individuals with cognitive and physical impairments and would provide the necessary accommodations for an enjoyable summer! This included, dressing, toileting, feeding, transferring, bathing, etc. Essentially, any activities of daily living that were required for the individual camper, was what we as counselors would provide. I started as a counselor and was promoted to head counselor, under Read more the associate director, the following summer. I have a passion for working with the special needs population and I am actively pursuing a career where I can help. I have gained so much knowledge through all my endeavors within this field and I have learned so much about myself because of it.
