Meet Sarah

I've had countless hours and years of experience as a teenager providing childcare for family, friends, neighbors, church nurseries, and my local elementary school. Currently, and for the last 4 years, I am an assistant teacher at a Montessori School, where I provide care, lesson instructions, toilet training, guidance, aftercare coverage, and every day responsibilities as an assistant to a 2 year old classroom. For the 2017-2018 school year, I was the Extended Day teacher for Apple Tree Ealry Learning in DC, where I provide aftercare activities for children ages 3-5, as well as assist teachers with classroom maintenance. Previously, I completed a year with Americorps as an Afterschool teacher for 3rd-5th graders, finishing up my year on August 11th 2017. I spent the year creating lesson plans to meet the needs of my students, chaperoning field trips, creating a stable and healthy environment, and assisting our local school teachers Read more with classroom prep and management. An earlier experience has been as a summer camp counselor through the DC Summer Youth Employment Program. Prior to that, I worked as a teaching assistant for children with learning differences and special needs at Kingsbury Day School. I also spent many years working as a teaching assistant for the preschool and nursery care provider at my church. I am CPR and First Aid certified for infants and children. I'm a strong swimmer, love to go on hikes and rollerblade. I enjoy music and play the flute, and belong to an African drum circle. I have a driver's license and a clean driving record.
