Hi! My name is Kathleen but I like to be called Kara. I have two adopted children, Danny, age 16 and Connor, age 13. We have 5 (I know...crazy...lol), a cat and an Umbrella Cockatoo named Coconut. We enjoy cruising, sports, theater, and spending time with our family. For 13 years I worked for a non profit organization called Camp Venture. This agency housed mentally challenged adults. They also had a day camp for children. My job was to teach them daily living skills such as bathing, brushing their teeth, making their bed, cleaning up after playing with their toys, games, books, etc... I also worked at helping them learn how to read and write. We taught them manners such as hello, goodbye, thank you, please, etc... Everything I work on is done in a fun exciting manner. Positive reinforcement is key. I've also owned two restaurants/ bars for 20 Read more yrs. Both my jobs taught me patience... in so many different situations. I'm now looking for something different, such as caring for children. I look forward to meeting families who need help with their children as well as some art and crafts, cooking, cleaning and transporting to outside activities.
