Hello! My name is Zai. I appreciate you giving me the time to consider the privilege of allowing me to spend time around your precious loved ones. I am so excited to get to know you, but first let me tell you what you’re getting into by selecting me. I am a gentle parenting enthusiast. I will be calm and kind with your children while affirming boundaries in a healthy way that communicates effectively to your children without harming them. As a former performer on American Idol, I adore singing and dancing - so I often bring that gift to the table when entertaining little ones or trying to connect with someone in general. Also, being multilingual enables me to sing and speak with all kinds of kids - from deaf to hearing, English to Japanese, and beyond. Learning is obviously incredibly important, therefore developmental age mental/physical exercises during the time spent together will be my priority. We will talk about topics deemed appropriate and safe from you as the parent or guardian, and go from there. Besides having almost 20 years of experience working as a tutor and a teacher, I’ve also been a host to children during camps, workshops, and talent shows. Now as a mom of two children of my own, I’ve taken my approach to child care up a notch. Granted, I may have been a nanny for a long time as well (and a babysitter), however being a mom really shifted my perspective further when it comes to taking care of a child. I will do my very best to treat your child with the kind of a care you would expect from a trusted relative or friend - and not just a run of the mill caretaker. I have been certified for CPR for many years and can retake the course again if you would like. I have American Red Cross Babysitting training and know first aid procedures well. I am fine with being background checked and have no convictions. I am educated and well trained. I am clean, courteous, and respectful, but also fun, easy going, and resourceful. I’m happy to work with you and your schedule, and try to see what will bring the most joy to your family to meet your needs. Now onto the nitty gritty. Despite being well qualified, there are some things you should know about me in the event you decide to choose me. 1) I do have tattoos. No, I will not take YOUR child to get a tattoo - unless they are age appropriate, temporary tattoos you’ve given me permission to use on them. 2) I am not religious and unfortunately I will not teach your child any particular religion either. I will respect your values and boundaries, and do my best to accommodate your requests, however I will not be the one instilling religious concepts into your child. I will not make fun of your religion - especially not to your child. 3) I will not hit your child, and if you hit them I will either report you or leave. No matter how much you think spankings work, they are abuse and I do not participate in abuse. 4) I do not drink. If you ask me to drink with you to bond, I will politely decline. I don’t judge you for drinking, but please respect my boundaries. 5) I do not smoke. I don’t care if you do, but please try not to breathe any into my face. Thanks. 6) I am biracial. Any racism will not be tolerated. That includes if someone tries to be racist towards your child. I will say something and do something to defend them. 7) I am an LBGTQIA ally. I will not discriminate against you and I will not be committing any hate crimes. Lastly, there are cases where I may have your children around mine as long as that is comfortable. Depending on the job or need, I may have your child(ren) come with us to the park or my home - if or when that is comfortable. I am a working mom and part of doing this job is so that I can continue to be there for my children as well. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask me.
