I became a caregiver because I absolutely love caring for people, especially children, and being helpful. I started caring for children at the age of 18 as an assistant teacher to 1 year olds on my college's campus. Parents worked hard to earn their degrees while raising their children. They needed help while at school and I felt so good about being apart of their journey. Later, I became a church summer camp teacher after being a chaperone on a field trip. The camp director took notice of my interaction with the kids and asked if I could take the position that day. As time went on, I started a family of my own but my passion for working with kids was still very prominent. Currently, I hold a position with an agency as an overnight in home caregiver to new mom's and their newborns. I relieve parents by taking care of their newborns throughout the night. I feed, change diapers and bathe if necessary. Each baby is treated as if they are my own. I never disrupt the parents from their sleep unless it is something that is a total emergency, which has never happened. I hope that my past experience allows you some insight on my personality and work ethic. I truly understand how hard it is to make a decision to trust a complete stranger to care for your precious gem.
