Hello, my name is Nicole Mitchell. I am a Certified Nursing Assistant and have seven years experience in caring for children with autism and intellectual disabilities. In addition, I have worked for Child Care Aware (NCRRA) Early Learning Coalition of Jacksonville, FL as a Respite Care Provider for military families for one year. Currently, I'm certified with American Heart Association CPR and Heartsaver First Aid. Furthermore, I have taken child care classes and trainings with Early Learning Coalition. My experience as a nanny Respite Care Provider for Child Care Aware (NCRRA) Early Learning Coalition of Jacksonville, FL as allowed me gain more experience in the areas of autism. The company evaluated my interaction with the children monthly. I cared for the children in their residence. Duties were: to homeschool the children, implemented behavior management plans, toileted, potty trained, dressed, groomed, bathed, and feed children. In addition, I accompanied families on Read more outings and trips, went to doctor's appointments, accompanied child to ABA therapy, speech, and occupational therapy. Household duties: prepared meals, , laundry, and housekeeping. Thus, my purpose for being a Respite Care Provider is to be a constant support for the families and the children. I am hard working and enjoy seeing how the children connect sociable, interact with others and surroundings. I became involved into this profession, because I helped raise my nephew who was diagnosed with autism, therefore, I am an active advocate for him. I have learned through him and other children how they can communicate and expresses their feelings, emotions, through sign language, verbal and nonverbal, touch, sensory, and eye contact. I believe everyday in this profession is rewarding, because all children have the capabilities to reach individual milestones in their own time. Moreover, excellent communication with the families and children are dear to me and is necessary at all times for a cohesive relationship, that yield abundance rewards for all involved.
