Meet Joy

My name is Joy. I’m from Hawaii, and I currently reside in Arizona. I come from a family of ten, and we have a close-knit dynamic. Throughout high school, I had the opportunity to work with children as a Teacher's Assistant from K-6th grade, and it was very enjoyable and heartwarming. This is where my passion for working with children began. After high school, I went to university to study Marketing. It was different from working with children, but fascinating to learn. Despite my degree, I still yearned to work with kids, so I nannied for two private families while in school. After graduating, I moved abroad to South Korea to teach English. I had the privilege of teaching 1st -5th grade students. This experience has taught me immensely about cultures, lifestyles, etc, but most importantly it solidified my desire to work with children and their education. I am now Read more a Reading Specialist Tutor, and work 1-on-1 with kids who have dyslexia, ADHD, etc. I love working with children. It can take a lot of effort, but it is fun and rewarding. Aside from working with children, I love being active by playing sports, being outdoors, exploring cities, and traveling!
