I am a caregiver. I have 2 grown children and 1 grand daughter. I did daycare in my home for 1 1/2 years. I had 2 babies in my care along with 2,5,7,9 yr old children. I got my daycare lisence from the state so I had to do CPR/ First Aide training and Mandatory Child Abuse Training. I had a wonderful experience reading, playing, singing, preparing food and feeding the children. I have also worked with Lutheran Social Services in the HOPES Program (Healthy Opportunities for Parents to Experience Success). My job as a Family Support Worker was to teach parenting skills and child development to the parents. Mothers that were pregnant or had children to the age of 3 qualified to be in this program. Later I went to school to be a Certified Nurses Aide. I had to take a state test and work two weeks at Read more a nursing facility. I also needed CPR/First Aide training. After I received my certificate, I worked for Bickford Cottage for a year and then did In home care taking care of an elderly couple through New Hope Foundation and I am still employed there. I realize this is not a childcare position but it is a caregiver position with many other resposibilities. I have been with them for 5 1/2 years. My last day of employment with them will be Dec. 31, 2015.
