Hi! My name is Rachel Newport. I am a Senior in college in Bourbonnais Illinois going to school at Olivet Nazarene receiving my degree in Child Development in the Spring of 2022. I have always loved working with children and believe I am being pulled in the direction of being a child life specialist after school! My senior year of high school, I took an internship at a company that worked with children who had disabilities. There I learned a lot about different kinds of disabilities children can have and the different techniques used to help them. I worked towards the end of my junior year of high school going into Summer at this daycare. There I played with children, fed them, changed diapers, put them to sleep, and so much more. Working as a daycare provider taught me a lot about working with different-aged children and what each age Read more group entails. I learned different techniques that helped me care for them as well. The past three summers I have worked as a nanny for the same family. I watched their two boys (aged 5 and 7). As their nanny, I took them to waterparks, the zoo, trampoline parks, the pool, and so much more. I also helped around the house making them lunches, cleaning up the kitchen, doing some light housework, and drove them around for activities. I worked full-time with this family over the summers and currently still stay in touch with them as much as possible. I also nannied part-time in the Summer of 2021 with another family as well (two twin girls aged 4). Their mother was expecting another baby and needed my help caring for her energetic twin girls!
