Meet Olivia

Hello! My name is Liv! I've recently moved to Chicago from Boston, MA and I'm doing my best to appreciate the city while also staying safe in the pandemic! I have been working with kids since high school, from tutoring to swim instructing to teaching at daycares. I grew up around children. My mother had her own home daycare for my little cousins and children of family friends, and this was my first exposure to childcare. When I started to look for jobs in high school it just made sense to look for jobs with children. Previously working as a tutor has allowed me to understand that all children are different and have unique needs. Understanding this has enabled me to connect with children from a variety of backgrounds on a deep level. I was able to improve on and refine this skill while working as a head lifeguard and Read more youth swim instructor. Over the course of the three years I was also able to learn to keep children engaged in the lesson, to keep them entertained while still ensuring that they were learning. I am currently working as an assistant preschool teacher at a private daycare facility in the city. I work under the guidance of a lead teacher to help provide a safe, organized and healthy classroom setting for students. I contribute to lesson plans, prepare materials for upcoming activities, and keep an open communication between care giver and teacher.
