I absolutely love the complex job of attuning to children to support them to play, learn, and feel safe! I have worked with kids of all ages in many settings across many years -- as a babysitter, nanny, playworker at a year-round fully outdoor preschool, theatre teaching artist, substitute teacher with Chicago Public Schools, and as a healthy relationship skills/teen dating violence prevention facilitator with middle school and high school students. I love play of all kinds and believe that play is the most serious work of child development. I make sure to balance my strong patience and understanding with clear boundaries when needed. Through years of providing childcare, I have studied many forms of early childhood education and am influenced by forest school, Montessori, attachment-focused, consent-based, restorative justice, Waldorf, and liberatory/popular education models of teaching and childcare. And while I have not worked in special education-focused environments, I have Read more worked with many neurodivergent children and am familiar with techniques and frameworks for neurodivergent and disabled children. I am am happy to care for children of all communities and I come with experience with supporting LGBTQ+, polyamorous, and other non-traditional family structures. I am still rather COVID-cautious, so I will wear a mask at all times while inside your home. I am comfortable unmasking outdoors in most circumstances. Glad to say I can avoid bringing most illnesses into your home! Infant CPR certified. Drivers License - Car access, but not every day because it is shared.
