Looking for work as a babysitter or nanny

  • Speaks Italian and Spanish
  • Comfortable with pets

I have been a certified babysitter for 13 years and I love children of all ages and all animals. I graduated magna cum laude from Loyola University Chicago in 2008 where I received a B.S. in math and minors in music, history and Italian. I speak Spanish and Italian, though I wouldn't say I am fluent. I graduated from New England Conservatory of Music in 2011 where I obtained my master's degree in vocal pedagogy. I have taught music lessons to children and adults of all ages, as well as running a children's choir. In 2013, I graduated from Loyola (again) with my master's in elementary education, and I have been teaching in Chicago Public Schools for two years. In my teaching job, I work mainly with older children, as I teach 7th grade social studies and science. However, I have had many nanny and babysitting jobs in the past with Read more children from infant to age twelve, and am comfortable with all ages. Due to a hectic teaching schedule, I am looking for occasional sitting at this time.

Amanda has been sitting for us for almost a year now. She's always up for an adventure with our almost 7-year-old daughter. She isn't one to park kids in front of the t.v. - there is lots of art, play, story-reading, etc. going on when Amanda's around. Lots of cute projects to show us in the a.m. Amanda is very responsive re scheduling and always arrives on time. She's very helpful and is as flexible as she can be when our plans change. Most of all, I trust her judgment and I feel comfortable leaving our daughter with her. Bonus - Amanda is very conscientious about cleaning up after meals, projects, etc. - you will not have to tidy after she goes, which is SUCH a relief! I highly recommend her.

Amanda has been an amazing addition to our family. She has taken care of our daughter Alexandra for the past eight months and we could not have asked for a more nurturing and responsible caretaker. She is consistently engaging Alexandra in creative play and is always taking her to do new and exciting things throughout the city. She has impressed on Alexandra a love of learning, music, and the outdoors. Amanda is very responsible, flexible, and loving. Alexandra has developed a very strong bond with Amanda, as have we, and we will all miss her dearly when she moves to Boston.
