My husband and I have lived in south Evanston for nine  years.  We love it!  I enjoy walking to work, to the store, to the lake.  I really enjoy outings with kids to the library, park, or an art or music class. I spent my summers in college working as a camp counselor at a Christian camp. As a girl, I remember really looking up to my counselors. I hope to be a good role model for kids I work with as well.  I worked with toddlers at a Montessori school for one year, and I am impressed by what I understand of the Montessori philosophy.  I feel that I now have the skills and language to use with kids to help encourage their independence and confidence, even at a young age.  I think it is very important that adults consider the way we speak to kids. I completed the Read more Sign Language Interpreter Program at Harper College.  I am especially interested in supporting families who need extra hands and encouragement, such as single parents and families who have a child with special needs.
