Throughout my life, childcare has always been a something I have wanted to be a part of. At a young age, I decided that when I attended college I wanted to pursue a career in Special Education. I am currently a student at the University of Illinois in the process of obtaining my Special Education teaching degree. During the school year, I volunteer at an afterschool program for children ages 3 to 18 at the Champaign Urbana Special Recreation Center where I am experienced in caring for children (some with special needs) and implementing exciting afterschool activities for the children to participate in. Over the past year I have participated in this 15 hours per week. When I am home from school over summer I frequently babysit my neighbors and younger cousins all ranging from ages 2 to 12. At my high school, I was a part of the Little Read more Warrior Preschool Program that focused on child development for children ages 3 to 5. During my senior year I was one of the select few students to become a full time teacher’s assistant in the classroom where I was in charge of planning lessons for the children as well as making sure they were properly cared for. I also spent two summers being a deck attendant for a local pool in my area so I am CPR certified since small children frequented the pool and I was in charge of their safety on the deck of the pool. Childcare has always been a part of me and I am excited to further explore my options this summer to nanny/babysit children in my area. I have an ongoing passion for learning what children need to develop and thrive and am excited to dedicate my life to becoming a childcare provider. I use my patience, energy, and love of children to fuel my desire to be the best childcare provider I can be.
