From early on in life, I have always adored children. Whether it be a newborn baby or that soon-to-be angsty preteen that I remember being myself, kids are my expertise. First, let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Jenna Bhatt and I am currently a full time student enrolled as a Sophomore at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I am a Integrative Biology major and intend on completing a pre-medicine track in my time here at UIUC. Because of my passion for kids, Pediatric care is the area I am strongly considering, but am by no means certain what type of doctor I aspire to become. I just know that I love caring for others and helping those in need, so the health care field seems to be a natural place for me to end up. In high school, I volunteered approximately 50 hours over Read more the course of my junior and senior year at DuPage Children's Museum with a start up program called "Power Plays." As an associate of the program I worked with children ages 5-13 and facilitated learning of concepts in the areas of art, math, and science. These small pop-up style activities were meant to be brief introductions to higher level concepts such as magnetics (attractions and repulsion), static electricity, fluorescence, and so forth. My time at DCM was extremely rewarding, and I still continue to search for volunteer opportunities at the facility when I am in town. On top of volunteering with children, I have a pretty extensive history babysitting children. Junior and senior year of high school I babysat 4 children (ages 4, 5, 7, and 9) in my neighborhood nearly every weekend. Before that I had babysat for a neighbor with one daughter and an autistic son. His autism was severe so I had to be on constant watch while he was awake, as well as play with him and get him to sleep. Because of all of the babysitting I have done already, I feel confident that I can serve your needs as either a babysitter, or full-time nanny. I am extremely comfortable with multiple children of various ages, so whatever you've got, I can take! I'm interested in a summer position from mid-May to mid-August.
