Meet Brandy

As the older sister of three siblings and the older cousin to most of my younger cousins, I have always enjoyed working and spending time with them. They are at a crucial stage in life, and I have the opportunity to make a positive impact on their lives. Being able to support children is rewarding, as well as being a role model. Last summer, I was a part of the Village of Riverside summer camp as a counselor. It was a fun experience, and seeing these kids with smiles and having a good time made my day. I also spent time in the before and after-care programs for some of the schools in Riverside. It was nice to see some of the kids from camp again. Throughout my high school years, I babysat for my cousins, and I have always been responsible for taking care of my siblings since I Read more am the oldest. In my first year of college, I volunteered at a Crisis Nursery and Respite Center, where I worked and spent time with newborns all the way up to 13-year-olds. These kids were going through a rough time, and being able to distract them from reality and entertain them was special. What sets me apart is my high level of patience, as I have always had children around me. I have a creative mind and consider myself a quick problem solver. I have empathy and am able to communicate well with children. I have a passion for working with children, and that genuine interest is important for providing good quality care. I am also understanding and a good listener, and I will be attentive to the kids.
