I have always had a love for children and seem to be loved by them. I have been babysitting since the age of 13. From 2006-2010, I was a summer nanny for two girls ages 3 years old and 6 months old. During my junior year of high school I worked for an in-home daycare as primary caregiver that provided care for 11 kids ages 8 months to 12 years. I have babysat more than 20 children and can't get enough! I've even cared for 12-month-old twins! During high school I also took part in a volunteer youth program at a hospital working in the daycare center. I worked in the newborn unit as well as the 2-3-year-old class learning many areas of childcare. Teaching children is also fun for me and this past summer (2012) I worked as a teacher. It was such a joy having fun and teaching Read more K-6 grade children about the importance of organic, home-grown food and healthy eating habits. You name it and I've handled it: feeding, bathing, sick children, diaper changing, putting kids to bed, playing, tantrums, crying, teaching, and around town outings. My approach to being a nanny is to form a bond with the child or children and to have fun while at the same time create activities which help with their development. I have just as much fun playing as the kids do! I am always very patient, and calm even in moments of complete chaos. By staying composed myself the child is less likely to become stressed out or helps them calm down. I follow the parent's rules for the children and follow their preferred way of parenting. Overall I love to be a fun and comforting presence to all children! Also if allowed I love taking fun trips around town including play areas, parks, pools, kid friendly events and treats! I very much enjoy working with children and hope to make my career helping them learn and grow into young adults.
