Hello! My name is Lisa Gordon. I am 22 years old and currently in my senior year at the University of Iowa. I’m graduating in May with a degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders and Psychology. I’m planning on moving back to Western Springs with my parents before I head to graduate school in the fall for Speech Pathology. During my years at Iowa, I’ve enjoyed spending my time competing on Iowa’s Varsity Cross Country and Track & Field team and volunteering with organizations like Friends for Aphasia. I love baking, reading, playing games, drawing, and being outside! I have always loved working with kids and have ample experience working with them. I am the youngest of three girls in my family, so I was lucky to inherit my older sisters' babysitting jobs when I was in sixth grade, giving me many years of babysitting experience. My babysitting jobs have Read more been with children of all ages and have ranged from being an occasional babysitter on weekday or weekend nights, to being a fulltime nanny in the summer. For the past two summers, I have been a nanny in Iowa City for a family with two girls. When I started, the girls were 2 and 5 and now they are 4 and 7. The two summer before that I nannied for three boys in Hinsdale, who were 3, 5, and 7 when I started. In both jobs, I planned and supervised activities for the kids, promptly transported them to and from various activities by means of driving, biking, or walking, and prepared balanced meals on a daily basis. I also have experience working with children in an education setting. For two summers, I worked as a teacher at a Kaleidoscope Children's Center, which has educationally themed camps where we would read books, do crafts, and play games relating to a given topic. At this camp, I created educational lesson plans for children ages three through ten and led and taught activities for classes consisting of ten to fifteen students. Currently, I volunteer at Coralville Elementary School in Iowa two times per week, where I tutor third and fourth grade students in math and reading and facilitate individual and group learning sessions. My schedule this summer is very flexible, and I would be available Monday through Friday (June through September) and occasional weekend nights. I could provide my own transportation.
