Hello! My name is Grace, and I am currently a college student at Indiana University, however, I am home in Atlanta for the summer. I am a history and political science major with a minor in Italian. I am also an avid dancer. I have a great deal of experience with children as I have been working in a childcare setting since the summer before my freshman year of high school. Throughout high school, I volunteered in the nursery at Clairmont Presbyterian Church for over two hundred hours over the course of three years. In this setting, I was responsible for kids aged between two months old and two years old. This age group was sometimes expanded to include up to five years old. At the same time, I was also an avid babysitter for families in my neighborhood, specifically my next-door neighbor. On a pretty much weekly basis, I Read more would babysit her two children-one toddler and one elementary schooler- for between four to six hours each time. I also babysat extensively for my nephew from the time when he was one to when he was six. The summer before my senior year, I was asked to become a paid nursery worker for Clairmont. I would have been working here this summer had the COVID-19 pandemic occurred. I love working with kids and being able to see how their personalities develop. One thing I love about being a consistent babysitter is that you really are able to bond with the kids and make even a tiny impact in their lives. I remember my favorite babysitters from when I was little, and I hope that I am that person for some of the kids that I have babysat. I also love working with kids because they make you embrace your creativity and joy. From dancing ballet with a two-year-old to braiding hair and bedtime stories, I have done it all and loved every moment (maybe not the tantrums).
