¡Hola! My name is Star and I'm a bilingual (Spanish-English) provider. I have a master's degree in speech-language pathology and for the past 7 years I have practiced speech and language therapy services, primarily for early childhood (ages 0-6) and elementary school-aged children (ages 7-12). I am passionate about early childhood intervention and am studying to become a board certified child language specialist! I maintain my Adult and Pediatric First Aid/AED/CPR licenses and have previous experience as a certified lifeguard and swim instructor. Health, safety, and security are extremely important to me. In previous childcare experiences, I have provided Spanish-immersion during play-based activities, trips to the park, sing-alongs, and story-time. Literacy and language development go hand-in-hand for me, and I always strive to foster a love of reading. Having provided speech and language therapy services in skilled nursing facilities and cared for elder family members with dementia, I am also Read more confident in providing companionship and support for all ages. I also love animals and nature, and am happy to care for furry, feathered, or scaled family members as well. My cat's name is Cleo (short for Cleopatra), and I have previous experience pet-sitting, primarily for cats and dogs. I also have taken an equine first aid course, volunteered as a stable manager for a therapeutic horseback riding facility, and worked on the riding staff at a summer camp with 30 horses, providing care, lessons, and trail rides.
