I studied theatre in college, worked professionally for a children's theatre for a couple years, but decided I wanted a more rooted lifestyle than professional theatre allowed. I have a total of 13 years in childcare experience; ranging from tutoring, babysitting, teaching children's theatre, teaching at a daycare, and now working as a full time nanny. My philosophy is a practical approach with emphasis on using the imagination and learning as much as we can about the world around us. I love Janet Landsbury's approach to respectful parenting and try to incorporate her methods in my every day dealing with the littles. Knowing that I'm working with children in the crucial years of their development is important, and I strive to make every child I work with feel validated and have a great example of kindness and respect every day. Currently I'm back in school part time, studying dietetics. I Read more hope to have my RDN (registered dietitian nutritionist) upon graduation, and I am comfortable planning and preparing health conscious meals for families as a service.
