My name is Emma and I'm a senior at Brandeis University looking for part-time work as of April and potentially full-time after graduating! Over the years, I've had many different experiences working with and caring for children. In high school, I worked as an assistant dance teacher in Acton, MA for 4 years. I helped instructors conduct and teach class in various dance styles, in classes of every age, from preschoolers to high schoolers. I truly enjoyed being a part of a child's learning process and sharing my love of dance. In my senior year of high school, I was even given a few opportunities to substitute teach on my own, which proved to be challenging, yet equally rewarding. Teaching dance allowed me to foster close relationships with many students, leading to many exciting and fun babysitting jobs. I frequently babysat for 2 families, each with 2 children. These jobs Read more I enjoyed the most because I felt as though the kids and I had lots of fun doing activities and hanging out together. I loved being able to grow close to the kids and feeling like a part of their families. My love of teaching dance inspired me to pursue further work with children. Also in senior year of high school, I was lucky enough to participate in a 3 week internship in a 3rd grade classroom. My responsibilities involved helping the children with their work and assisting the teacher in running a smooth, organized classroom. Upon graduating high school, I took a job working as a counselor at a sleep-away camp in NH. Again, I worked with kids of varying ages, from elementary to high school age. I had many different duties as a counselor, which included organizing and leading small group or all-camp activities, being a cabin leader, taking groups on outdoor trips, such as hiking, canoeing, and swimming excursions, working and cooperating with the other counselors and helping out in the kitchen occasionally. I was also one of the camp's certified lifeguards. Although thoroughly exhausting, being a counselor was undoubtedly an extremely fun, challenging, and fulfilling experience. Perhaps my most valuable childcare experience, however, is being an older sister. My sister and little brother are 3 and 8 years younger than me. Like most sibling relationships, we have our ups and downs, but we have always been very close and I wouldn't trade them for anything. Being a big sister is a 24/7 job! I hope to work for a family where I fit in not only as a nanny, but also as a part of the family!
