I have been caring for children for more than twenty years and continue to find it one of the most enjoyable ways to spend my time. I believe in treating children with respect and communicating compassionately and empathetically. In my early and mid-twenties I worked full time as a nanny for multiple families with children ages 4 months to preteens for about 6 years. For the past 10 years (from my late twenties to now my late thirties) I have babysit for various families part-time, taught social justice and Chinese language in an after school program, ran a weekly Chinese language learning program for kids in my neighborhood, organized and offered childcare during a regular ESL class, worked with preschoolers as part of a gardening program, and facilitated a handful of anti-racism workshops for teenagers. And while I don't have human kids of my own, I am a happy aunt Read more of 2 adorable nieces ages 4 and 8. *A few other things about me* While I am a cisgender woman, many kids and adults that I care about are trans and nonbinary. I strive to be gender-neutral in my interactions with kids, as I believe mainstream society's gender constructs are extremely harmful. I'm also politically active in local fights to defund the police, and have been involved in anti-racism and social justice groups since my teenage years as well. I mention these things as I think I would probably only be a good fit for families who share similar perspectives. *Schedule and Availability* I have been studying massage and bodywork (currently focused on studying craniosacral therapy) for the last several years, and am still in the process of navigating a slow entry into offering bodywork full time. Because of this, it is unlikely that I can make a commitment of more than 6 months at a time. I am ideally looking for between 10-25 hours a week total, for 2-4 hours at a time.
