Hello! My name is Sara. I am a new resident to Cape Cod after moving here this past year with my husband and 1 year old son. I obtained my Bachelor's in Elementary Education at SUNY New Paltz in New York with a major in English. I am certified to teach children from birth to sixth grade, and I've done just that! I've been a nanny for two families, both having 3 children all under the age of 7. One family had to boys 5 and 4 and a 2 year old daughter. The other had 2 year old twins and a 1 year old. I was a nanny for both of these families for over a year until I sadly had to leave them to continue my educational career. While obtaining my Associates I worked in a daycare as an Assistant Teacher, student teaching in several other daycares and Read more preschools as well. In summer 2012 I began working as an Assistant Teacher in a severe behavioral and special education classroom. Working with children with physical, educational and behavioral special needs. I became engulfed in Language Arts because so many of the children I was working with had some degree of speech delay. I learned about the PECS Program, where common commands and items are depicted through pictures as a means of communication. I also took several classes and became fluent in American Sign Language. While we're on the subject of languages I am also familiar with basic Spanish. During my journey to my Bachelors I student taught in several after school programs, daycares, preschools and elementary schools. My first job on Cape Cod was as a teacher for Cape Cod Child Development. This was an unbelievably rewarding position. It was difficult in the manner of the hours. Working all day, 5 days a week only left enough time during the day to eat dinner with my son and tuck him into bed. He was growing up without me. I have waited my entire life to be a mother and want to enjoy these years with my son, before I blink one day and he's an adult. This is why I am seeking a position as a nanny/ babysitter/tutor. That I may continue the career I love working with children and making daily learning moments fun and be there for my family
