My name is Krissana Allen, and I am a graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Spanish. Througout my life I have had many experiences with advising and caring for children. I am the oldest of four in my family, and have a precious 5 year old goddaughter who I babysit on a regular basis and have been babysitting since she was a newborn. That being said, my family has always seen me as a a responsible loving relative and trust me with their children whenever the opportunity arrises. At the age of 16, I became a camp counselor for a YMCA camp in upstate New York called Camp Gorham. There I learned a great deal of patience, creativity, and leadership skills for ages ranging from 4 to 16. After being a camp counselor, I decided to pursue part time positions as a babysitter and summer nanny positions. Since that time, I have had a wide array of jobs with infants and teenagers. The most challenging but rewarding have been the jobs involving children with learning disabilities. Speaking of, my now not-so-little brother grew up with Asperger's Syndrome. Growing up with a sibling with a learning disability has taught me more than I could ever learn in a babysitting job. My social skills with children have grown to be very strong because of my relationship with him, and my patience has become impenetrable. Lastly, I have completed a 3 day Red Cross Babysitting Course and therefore am recognized as a certified babysitter by that organization. In that course we learned CPR, what to do in emergency situations, and how to properly passify a choking child. Needless to say I have a great amount of experience nannying and caring for children and have never come across a job that was too challenging to handle.
