Hi! My name is Caitlin Smith. I come from a family of five - Dad, Mom, younger sister (20), and younger brother (17). I'm from a pretty big family, which includes 15 cousins, currently ages 1-16. I'm the designated babysitter of choice when my aunts and uncles need a night out or are switching between nannies, kids have ranged in ages from 1-12 and i've babysat up to 5 kids simultaneously. I have been a consistent sitter for one of my cousins who has severe developmental delays. Cognitively she is significantly delayed and both her fine and gross motors skills are not refined. She requires constant supervision and entertainment. Even though she's into double digits, she still requires help going to the bathroom, opening doors, walking up and down stairs, and needs all food and drink prepared for her. I communicate with her by rough sign language, pointing, and a Read more system on an iPad. I have experience caring for babies and toddlers. I am extremely attentive, careful, and responsive. I understand the importance of engagement and learning at all ages. I was raised a house where we were strongly encouraged to play outside, read, play music, etc. I recognize the importance of development and would make sure that my time spent with any children was engaging! I have years of experience as a children's sailing instructor, camp counselor, swim instructor, and lifeguard. As a sailing instructor I was certified in a variety of areas and was responsible for instructing kids ages 5-10. I also have experience as a lifeguard/swim instructor at a summer camp where I was responsible for children ages 3 though 15.
