We hired Kalyn cold, with only one hurried (but very positive!) conversation with a prior reference -- and we feel like we lucked out and struck gold! Kalyn is one of those incredibly responsible people and when my children are with her, no part of my overactive parent brain has to worry about how / what they are doing. For me that's rare. Without prompting, she works on educational activities with the kids (she volunteers as a tutor in her "spare" time), she's so very engaging with our five-year old girl, especially. And she seems to be cold resistant to at least -10F so she's able to let our crazy 9 year old play on the playground under freezing conditions for as long as he wants. We might have to move to wherever Kalyn goes to college so we can keep her as a sitter. ;)
