A little about myself; my name is Lucille Philip, the children call me Ms. Lulu. I am a mother of a beautiful young lady, Alicia. I have been a part of the La Garderie team since 2009. I love what I do! During my tenure, I have been presented with the “Heart of Gold Award!” I am certified in preschool, infant and toddler child care development. My philosophy in caring for children is: every child deserves to be loved no matter what. I look forward to caring for all the babies every year. This is a wonderful time in these baby’s lives. Once my daughter was old enough to be on her own I wanted to go out and get active so I went back to Harford Community College and started to take classes in early childhood development. I completed the course and requisite 45 hours in the classroom for Child Care Development. I have the certificates of completion for the following courses through Child Care Links, Inc. Resource and Referral Center for Harford and Cecil Counties: Managing Your Child’s Misbehavior Nutrition and Active Learning Conflict Resolution Heartsaver First Aid and CPR Working with Mixed Ages Organization Rocks Medication Administration Training SIDS Communicating with Co-Workers and Administrators Emergency Preparedness Dealing with Difficult Parents Cooking with Kids School Age Discipline Menu Planning and Nutrition My first job was at the Montessori School in Bel Air and I loved it. I also applied for another part-time job at the Bel Air Athletic Club, the Arena Club and Harford Day School. I was offered the position with all of them and had to make a choice. I chose the Arena Club for the summer as a counselor and working with all different types and ages of children. I really enjoyed that position and was grateful for the opportunity. Because that was only a summer position, I applied for a position at La Garderie School and was hired. I have been there since 2009 and love being with the children every day. I feel like I have a lot to give the kids and a lot of love to give. I am there to care for, love and protect the children and take my job seriously while enjoying the children.
