My name is Renauta York. I am 52 and have been a nanny to one family of a 6 year old boy and 2 1/2 year old girl for the last 5 1/2 years. I have 12 years additional experience as a before and after care provider/staff member, preschool/school volunteer and parent. I love children and am hardworking, dependable, flexible, creative and caring. My responsibilities included working with parents to create developmentally appropriate activities to facilitate the children’s cognitive, emotional, social, motor, and language development; supporting breastfeeding, toilet training, developing and maintaining consistent routines and schedules, provide transportation to and from activities, light housekeeping, and meal and snack preparation. I play guitar, sing, make up songs about our routines, and use pretending and puppetry to explore relationships and the world around us. I also enjoy knitting, crocheting, writing, cooking and photography. I believe children learn best by exploration. We enjoyed singing, music classes, dancing, listenting to music. We used music to explore letter sounds and the tone of language and conversation. We used our imagination and puppetry to learn how to overcome challenges, and how to get along with others. We loved reading our favorite stories, recording their stories and observations to show that stories are accessable. We explored arts and crafts through painting, drawing, cooking, collage and sculpture. We attended local playgroups and library storytimes, and took field trips to Wheaton and Watkins Regional parks and nature centers, Spiknells Farm Market and Rock Hill orchard to pick apples and pumpkins, National Zoo, National Building Museum, College Park Airport Museum, walks around our neighborhood to explore neighborhood businesses, fire department. I have my own car, comprehensive auto insurance, and am certified in first aid and child/infant CPR/aed. I have completed the 90-hour child development/infant toddler, 45-hour preschool, and medication administration courses. I am also taking a breastfeeding support refresher course. I am available to start in the next two weeks, and look forward to speaking with you.
