I have been a caregiver for over 7 years. I started first as a babysitter to my 6 younger siblings, then to other families in my community. I volunteered in our church AWANA program for many years before gaining certification as a certified nursing assistant. Shortly after I began working in long term care as a nursing assistant, and graduated from CSM with an associates in general studies in the same year. After 4 years of nursing (this past summer) I worked for my aunt as a nanny for her 3 youngest children (ages 12, 10, and 7). In addition, I am American Heart Association CPR certified, and I am finishing my last 2 science courses to qualify for admission to a competitive medical laboratory science program.
