Meet Audrey

My name is Audrey Jones, and I am working with sittercity to pursue a career in nannying. I have worked as a nanny off and on for the past 13 years. I started with my first family when I was 19 and fell in love with working with children. Since then, I have worked with a few other families. I worked with all age ranges (newborn to teen) in diverse settings and in a variety of income brackets. I have, also, started my own family. Pedagogically, I have a degree in English from the University of Southern Maine and have worked in courses in Early Childhood Education, Development, and Literacy. I am hoping to pursue a Master’s in Education. For the past year, I have worked at Wild Oats Bakery in Brunswick, Maine. While not childcare related, it did help me to improve my baking skills and multitasking abilities, but Read more most of all, it reintroduced me to a creative side of myself that I love and would love to share with your family. I feel that my personality, experiences, and interests make me well suited to be a nanny. I genuinely love children. They are lights of the world and even on their challenging days, they teach me something more about life. I love that each age has its own unique set of attributes: newborns are cuddle bugs that help you to see the beauty in everything even like the miracle of coffee; toddlers are fun and curious and their constant questioning opens the world up to you and them; school-age children are more independent but still sweet and growing and are able to form more meaningful relationships. As an educator, I love to teach in a way that applies creativity and real-world exploration to learning. I love to spend time outdoors, doing messy activities and art, and cooking and baking together. I find that all ages can enjoy these pursuits if the projects are designed and executed for their current learning abilities. When I am not working, I am at home with my wild family. I have three young boys, a saint of a husband, a large and lovable English Mastiff, and a friendly yet ghostlike cat. We are very busy and active. We love to explore all the different regions of Maine and New England, hike and camp, and swim and play in the ocean almost daily. I grew up in Maine so I am used to and am a fan of all the different seasons and enjoying each in their own splendor. I, also, am an avid reader and writer, something I love to share with my own boys.
