I'm an undergraduate student in my final year of studying education and IR at College of the Atlantic. I have several years of experience caring for children as a babysitter. I began babysitting for family members, family friends, and others in my neighborhood when I was 14 years old. I worked with families who had only 1 child up to 4 children, all between the ages of 8 months to 12 years. I was responsible for cooking, helping with homework, playing and supervising activities, and occasionally bringing the kids to their extracurriculars. On the other hand, I have 4 years of experience working with children in private and public classroom settings as a tutor (grades K-4), supervisor/TA (grades K-4), and most recently as an EFL educator. As an EFL teacher, I worked for three months within a private school in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico teaching English to students grades 7-12. I Read more coordinated activities focused in crafts, dramatic arts, dance, sports, team-building and many more yet all allowing the students to practice their language skills. I am passionate about my studies and working with children, and not just in the classroom but in various circumstances and environments. I understand the responsibilities of child care but personally I enjoy spending time with kids and just having fun. I am a crafts/art lover so I'm always doing DIYs, painting, drawing, photography, graphic design, etc. and love creating opportunities to do similar projects with kids. Also, I spend a lot of time outdoors, especially in the summer, and go swimming, hiking, kayaking, and camping quite often. I think it's important for kids to be outside and disconnect from technology some by showing them fun and interesting games, adventures and places to explore. Through my experience with kids and my open-minded approach, I would enjoy working with any age group and could introduce activities or ideas of fun things to do so I'm not just another boring babysitter/nanny!
