My name is Ashley and I am a private nanny, excitedly seeking a new family to join! Ideally, I prefer to find a long-term position. I love spending time outside, exploring nature, doing yoga, and expressing myself through art and music. I earned my BA in Literature, Language, and Writing at Eastern Michigan University with the intention of becoming a high school teacher, but I decided not to continue with certification in secondary education. Instead, I decided to pursue a career in childcare, and I feel that I have truly found my niche. For three years, I held a position as an infant and toddler teacher at Gretchen’s House, a NAEYC accredited childcare center in Ann Arbor, that provided me with an excellent foundation of skills for working with young children. The center utilizes philosophies of High Scope, an Ypsilanti based educational research foundation est. in 1962 that emphasizes the Read more importance of play-based, active learning. As a High Scope certified teacher, I received certifications in First Aid and CPR and a minimum of 24 hours of early childhood education training each year. I am happy to renew expired certifications if my employer prefers that I do so. I deeply value the ability to work with a single family and being able to respond to the interests and needs of their child/ren more quickly and efficiently than I could when I was working with many children in a classroom setting. I love working with children in their homes and to truly become a partner with a family in fostering healthy development and growth for their child/ren’s physical and emotional needs. I believe in warm and responsive care and that children prosper through active learning. It is such an honor and a privilege to act as a tour guide to planet earth for the sweetest brand new humans; I love to show children the depths of love and interpersonal connection, that the world is a beautiful and safe place filled with wonder, curiosity, and possibility. These relationships go beyond business and it is my hope to be a lifelong friend to the families I work with. Thank you for your time and consideration, I look forward to hearing from you to further discuss our needs and decide if we may be a good fit for each other.
