I am a retired legal secretary who loves children. I have worked for local attorneys for the past 30 years so I am very used to working with professionals and know the demands of their job can have on their family life. I made this career change based on an experience in my career as a legal secretary. I feel very strongly about the need for safe, experienced child care because of that experience. I am currently a nanny to a beautiful 2-year-old girl right now, but the family needs to reduce their childcare hours for financial reasons - so I am looking for a new full-time position. In terms of childcare experience, I have been very successful (if I do say so myself) in teaching my current charge how to walk, talk, sing, dance, her ABC's and how to count. I raised my own family in the City of Read more Birmingham, so I am very familiar with the Birmingham/Bloomfield area. Picking up or dropping off is not be a problem so after-school activities are just fine. My organizational skills are probably my strongest asset so you can be sure all your childcare requirements will be met. I love kids and always babysat for friends, neighbors and family. I still do. I love animals and have two dogs of my own, so pets are not an issue. I am a grandmother as well, so I guess what I'm trying to say is there is not an issue or experience your child can come up with that I haven't already dealt with. I believe in creative playtime is crucial to childhood development and would structure a daily dose of it. I am also a big believer in daily reading and singing (I've found singing really develops language skills quickly). I also think children should go outside to play or take a walk everyday (weather permitting). I love arts and crafts projects and I encourage creativity. I am an excellent cook and do not object to meal preparation for your child or light housework. I am punctual to a fault. I have a college degree and still reside in the Birmingham area. My hours and days are very flexible. Staying late occasionally or being there for date night or any other unscheduled childcare that may arise is not an issue. I am a high-energy person by nature and with my background, I would not only be able to follow your instructions but have made a habit of keeping a daily log for parents of who ate what, how much, what they did that day, accomplishments, upsets, etc. I have my CPR and First Aid certifications. I hope you will consider me for the position.
